Ethiopia earns over $ 115 million from coffee exports in one month
Ethiopia earned $ 115.4 million from its coffee exports in the first month of the new Ethiopian fiscal year that began on July 8, 2021. The gain is obtained from the sale of 31,145 tons of coffee.
In its performance report, the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority noted that its export target for the month was 21,339.8 tons of coffee, thus exceeding its target by nearly 46%. The amount also showed an increase of more than 46 percent over the same period last year, while the gain showed a 61 percent increase.
Germany was the top destination for Ethiopian coffee during the period, purchasing coffee worth $ 22.86 million, nearly 20% of the total earnings.
The second and third main destinations of Ethiopian coffee during the month were the United States and Belgium, consecutively. The United States bought Ethiopian coffee worth $ 17.8 million (15 percent), while Belgium bought $ 12.3 million (11 percent).
Saudi Arabia, Japan, China, South Korea, Italy, France and Australia are also among the top ten Ethiopian coffee destinations.
